Healing Crystals & Skincare

We have been using Crystals in conjunction with our Esthetics Services at POMME for at least 2 years now but only recently have we been physically infusing Crystals into the products we use. A lot of people are intrigued by the art and science of Crystal Healing and a lot of other people think it’s jibberish. I have found those people usually feel that way because they do not understand it. So I am here to talk a little bit about the healing benefits of crystals and why they pair so well with Skincare.

SCIENCE first… as you know from middle school Science all matter is made of atoms and atoms are made of protons, neutrons, and electrons. What you might not know is those atoms and all molecules are held together by a form of chemical energy. Potential Energy is any energy that is stored in an object and not created from movement. Essentially we are all made up of energy and/or everything that exists also has energy. This is important because energy is one of the basis of Crystal Healing. Long story short Crystals have the power to transmit energy. Between that and some of the physical properties of certain crystals they make an incredibly powerful tool when it comes to beauty, skincare, body work and even health.

Now that we know the science behind Crystals and their energy lets discuss the physical properties at play. Many crystals can do things for your skin on a physical level. Here are a few basic crystals and what they can do for your skin specifically…

Rose Quartz: Anti Aging Crystal that can help to smooth or soften fine lines and wrinkles. It also naturally exfoliates dead skin cells and it even has calming properties for those who get redness or pink easily.

Jade: Balancing Crystal that helps with balancing combination skin types. It is also know to improve circulation.

Moonstone: Good for sensitive skin and people who are prone to Hormonal Acne. It is also known to bring out a radiant glow in your skin.

These are just a few of the Crystals that naturally emit physical healing properties that are beneficial to the skin. Crystal Healing is not just a fad beauty trend. It is a science based tool that can be used in MANY ways to improve your beauty regimen both at home and in the Spa. We infuse crystals into our moisturizers and toners that we use for every facial. We also like to ask you to hold specific stones so that we can utilize the energy emitted to push that skincare to a whole other level. Additionally we use tools made from Jade, Rose Quartz, and Sodalite during our Facial Massage, Gua Sha and Lymphatic Drainage. Essentially you will be getting the Chemical and Physical benefits of these Crystals throughout your Facial Services. As an added bonus one of the Crystals we ask our clients to hold has spiritual or emotional wellness properties . It not uncommon for your Esthetician to gift one or more of these crystals to you at the end of your appointment so that you can continue on your Crystal Healing journey from home.

Crystal Healing Grid by Aimee Fisher

The last thing we do at POMME to support our clients during their skincare services is something that I hold very close to my heart. We speak silent blessings over each person as they get their services. These are mantras silently spoken over you and can be as simple as… “heal this woman’s acne and let her skin be clear and radiant every single day.” These mantras are recited in your Estheticians head as they do your facial massage and throughout the entire services. Some of our Esthis even go so far as to wish happiness on your life in a global way far beyond what they set out to heal with your skin. We truly wish to pass every positive particle we can from the space, through the crystals, from your service provider straight to you. Everybody deserves to be loved on in a safe and pure way. That is what Self Care is. It is loving yourself and we are here for it! Our Esthis truly create a safe space to heal during their treatments. It is a special experience and 100% worth having.

Look for our line of crystal infused products coming before the end of 2021 to your local spa and online and feel free to book a complimentary consultation with one of our Estheticians for help on what products you should be using for your skin. We can do these consultations in the spa or online for your convenience.

Thanks for reading another passionate post of mine. I hope your all living your best life even when your not!

Mystical Makeup Monday: The Hierophant

The Hierophant

Deck: The Muse Tarot by Chris-Anne

I see something muted even in the sky of this card. The sunset or sunrise is full of what could be bright color but there seems to be somewhat of a veil over the tone. A tempering of sorts of the color magic. Their ever present galaxy looms above and geometric shapes fill the sky space. A woman in her natural state hugs her knees to her chest as if in the fetal position although she sits up right. Her skin is the same tone as the earth she sits on. She looks up and out. One of the geometric shapes bursts directly behind her head.

You can barely see a sliver of the sea below and on the rocks underneath the figure there are 4 floating lanterns that do not seem to provide much light. The fact that the figure is so large and so high above even the lanterns that are flying in the sky says much about her place. There is another person much smaller on the rocks below cloaked in black. Although you can not see her face I feel a femininity from her. She almost feels motherly to me as she gazes up at our woman perched on top of the highest rock. She is clutching her cloak almost visually sending up something we can’t see.

If you pay close attention in the far background on the left hand side of the card you can see the tiniest human form. It is so small that you can only make out a shadowy profile. He feels more masculine to me and he may be carrying a backpack. Perhaps he is attempting the journey to the top. Perhaps he has just started on his path. Perhaps he thinks she has already made it. It is hard to say because he is not but a speck at this point, but he is there nonetheless and ready to start.

I noticed that even in the rocks you can see subtle bits of gold and even a small burst of light. They mimic the galaxy above. It could be saying, “What you see, so you have.” Or it could be a simple artistic choice, but the parallel seemed hard for me to ignore. The question that immediately bubbles is… Which is the Hierophant? The woman on the rock, the cloaked figure looking up at her, or the speck of a man on the start.

KEYWORDS

Spiritual wisdom, religious beliefs, conformity, tradition, institutions.

The Hierophant is the masculine counterpart to the more feminine High Priestess. My initial thought was “ hmmm this card seems divinely feminine to me. “ Upon closer examination I realized there is not much more traditional than the male hierarchy, the definition being “ a system or organization in which people or groups are ranked one above the other according to status or authority.” per dictionary.com. This card does in fact show the levels of traditional hierarchy at least according to our culture. The speck of a man just beginning his journey. Looking up longingly. The woman perched at the top of her rock looking out upon all that she may have accomplished and the wiser older woman who had made her descent back to a place of relaxation or retirement. She still looks longingly at what once was with great love and a fondness for the younger version of what could have been herself.

More importantly this card can represent a mentor or teacher of sorts. Who can offer guidance in the place of painful mistakes and elevate you spiritually. This is a comforting thought to those of us dabbling down a new path. This card may be a beckoning to start in a more traditional manner. When learning something it may be that you should learn how it has always been done before you can branch out and break the mold. That is not to say you should not do something great. You can burst through the stratosphere and make it to all new heights but you must first learn how to stand, jump before you can begin to fly. Beginning in the traditional manner by learning all there is to already know might be a pertinent point of action if you find yourself on a newer path.

Reverse Meaning

As always I will share the reversed meaning for the sake of complete research and learning. In the reverse this card could mean that it is time for you to break the mold. Step outside the traditional and enter the realm of the unconventional. As many benefits as there are to thinking for yourself there will always be the push back from those close to you who don’t understand why you won’t conform as they have. Tension in that department, potential strife between loved ones.

Career

In your career It could be a suggestion that now may be a good time to introduce a new approach or an unconventional method and be met with success. Look out for opportunities to mentor or train others.  This card can be referring to someone with authority. Some kind of boss or leadership position. He may be a rule follower. A process builder and/or an analytical thinker. You could also be feeling pressure to conform to a group mindset on a project or to fit in on some level.

Love

If you are in a relationship, put your commitment pants on because this card can represent a marriage. You can generally expect your relationship to move in a forward direction towards a new height. It indicates that you and your partner are in alignment on your desires. For all you singles out there this card can mean a new relationship is about to bud. You can expect it to have all the potential for a more serious partnership and be less of a fling.

Health

If you find yourself in a health predicament when this card pops up it could be an indication that more traditional medicine is the best path for your problem at the moment. You can also expect the implementation of a basic health plan like diet and exercise to make a major impact.

Hair. Skin. Nails. 5 Reasons To Use Pro Products

As a Hairstylist I meet a lot of people and we often talk about what they are using on their hair in the shower. I have heard on more than one occasion that a client may not use professional products because they ” just can’t tell the difference, so why pay so much more.” I honestly empathize with this… before my fellow stylists flip the page let me explain myself.

  1. Professional products do not = instant gratification. Most of the best professional products out there are designed scientifically to enter the hair shaft or the skins pores and actually make it healthier. The products are a specific molecular makeup and will repair, smooth, moisturize, protect on a molecular level. This is the long game we are talking about. Fixing damage and softening coarse hair takes time. Most of us want to put something on our hair, rinse, dry and see an immediate miracle. Some over the counter product’s will include ingredients that will band aid your hair issues. You are fixing nothing but it can satisfy your instant gratification for hair that feels and looks better even if its really not.
  2. OTC products can build up. Those over the counter products that make your hair feel better instantly use ingredients that coat the hair shaft. Glossing over your hairs health problems might make it feel better but those types of ingredients typically build up on your hair over time. Suddenly your hair begins to feel even more brittle days after you wash it. You find yourself saying ” Oh I need some more of that awesome OTC product that makes my hair feel so soft. ” As you use it more often the build up hardens and begins to break your hair. It is a vicious cycle. Build up is not healthy hairs friend.
  3. What goes on your skin also ends up in your blood stream. Professional products are held to a different standard. The FDA does NOT regulate the beauty industry as closely as we would like. Over the counter or products found at the drug store can make claims on their packaging that are not entirely true. For example boxed hair color can claim they are ” Ammonia Free ” as long as they contain below a certain percentage of ammonia. ” Sulfate Free ” and ” All Natural ” shampoo and conditioner is usually NOT entirely sulfate free or all natural. These companies have to use ingredients that allow for their price point. All businesses are looking to make a profit. If your products are inexpensive it probably does not contain the highest quality ingredients. Those ingredients are going directly into your blood stream and you are potentially using them multiple times per week when you wash your hair or face. It is something to consider.
  4. Licensed Professionals sell pro products. This means you are getting sort of a prescription for your hair and skin. An expert is suggesting something that they believe will give you the greatest possible benefit. Isn’t that so much better than groping around in the dark looking for something that will hopefully work for you? As a side note, if you purchase your professional products from a licensed stylist you are literally supporting a human being as a small business instead of lining the pockets of large scale corporations. Your small local business deserves as much support as they can get. Love on your stylists and salons.
  5. Pro products are less risky. Since you are purchasing your professional products from a licensed stylist and / or your local salon. They usually consider it their prescription for your hair or skin. When you go to a doctor if they give you a prescription that does not work as well as you hope you can go back in and get it adjusted. You can do the same at your salon and they will usually exchange the products for another at no additional charge. This is important because finding the perfect regimen for your hair or skin can take time and you may need to try a couple of things before you find your magical mixture. It is nice to be able to experiment with less risk and a little guidance.

This isn’t your Ted Talk on using pro products but I feel like it should be! Maybe their people will reach out to me one day but until then you can follow me on social media for continued advice on using the best possible products. Things that support your health and well being as well work for your hair and skin. I love doing personal consultations and offering my advice to people on the hunt for their dream beauty regimen. I can do virtual and in person consultations. Feel free to book one of those via my website http://www.pommespa.com and select the book online tab looking for the service titled ” Complimentary Consultation “. Until then I’m wishing you the happiest hair in the land and all the self care in the world.

Mystical Makeup Monday

The Fool

Deck: The Muse by Chris-Anne

I see a light but bright almost pastel color scheme in this version of The FOOL. To me this appropriately symbolizes the push and pull of The Fool card. The colors melt together but also seem to abstract which is the perfect way to describe a path forward into the unknown. It is no one thing so it can be both good and bad. There is potential for great things but also a distinct possibility that you will face trials and tribulations.

The woman crossing the desert can’t see what is ahead. There is a point in the sand where the ground becomes thin and the light shines brightly. To me that could be symbolizing that even in the darkest times when things are most difficult or treacherous there is a purpose and meaning to your path. I appreciate that the woman is a blank canvas in this portrayal of The FOOL. She is not wearing bright clothing, she is not naked but she is rather nude. I take it to mean that she is any woman. There is no type of person when it comes to taking the first step towards the rest of your life. There is only bravery, and the willingness to fail.

Mystical Makeup Monday: The Fool by Heather Leslie Tabor

What is interesting about this card are the paths. If you look around you will find another possible path. There is a ladder in the bottom left hand corner of the picture. I believe it is an example of human nature’s astute refusal to learn from our loved ones mistakes. Our children often have to forge forward making their own mistakes to learn the biggest lessons. You can tell them about the other path until you are blue in the face but you can’t make them actually look around for it much less take it.

Most entertaining of all is the galaxy beneath the path that could represent all possibility. When you’re taking a leap of faith you have no idea where you might fall, and the possibilities for your life are absolutely endless just like space. This is well depicted in this rendering of The FOOL card.

Keywords

Beginnings, innocence, spontaneity, adventure

Basic Meaning

This card is number 0 of the Major Arcana. It is said that The Major Arcana is often considered the Fool’s journey through life. Nobody is excused from the fool’s journey. It has a place in every story. Since the fool is always present it needs no number.

Have you ever heard the saying “ A fool for LOVE “ often used to describe falling quickly in love and maybe often? It can be said that those butterflies in your stomach put you in a foolish state of mind. It can cause you to make blind decisions. That is appropriate considering the woman in this photo can’t see what lies beneath her path or how difficult it will be.

Of course this card doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with love. It is also about the butterflies we feel when we are about to embark on a new adventure. Start a new job, have new goals. That excited feeling when we know we’re going somewhere but that’s about all we know. This is entirely appropriate because my research suggests that for the most part this card appears in a reading when you are about to embark on an unexpected, and exciting adventure.

The FOOL card when drawn uprigght can signify that your experience will contribute to your growth as a human being. It can also be interpreted as a call to risk taking. If you play it safe all the time not much can be lost but there is very little to gain. The sighting of The FOOL should be an inspiration to you and can be read as  your blessing to do whatever it is you may have considered but been too scared in the past.

Reverse Meaning

As always I am here to report the unbiased facts so even though I do not believe in reverse Tarot. I will share the meaning of The FOOL when pulled in reverse for those of you who do use them in your practice….

Per the usual the reverse meaning of this card is quite the opposite of the upright version we already discussed. It can symbolize the emptiness of the journey before you. The idea that taking the risk would not be worth it and that you will gain nothing from the experience.

Career

When The FOOL is spotted in matters of career, and work it can be suggesting that it is time to go for it. The new job, the promotion, your own business. Whatever that may look like in your life. This might mean you will have to take risks such as moving or a potential for loss of some kind but it means you are attracting bright, innovative, new ideas that are worth something. Chasing after a huge dream can seem silly  and may be considered an unwise decision when it comes to stability, but if you’re pulling this card consistently it may be time to follow your heart.

LOVE

In matters of love, The FOOL can lead to a number of possibilities depending on your current relationship status…

If you are single it may mean that a new romance is on the horizon or that you may need to take a leap of faith when it comes to opening your mind to a new relationship. I feel like this can mean considering partners that you may not have in the past. So what if he is not your type. It might be time to do something new. You might find it exciting and fresh in the end.

If you are in a relationship this card can be a milestone coming up. Depending on where you are with your partner it could be something as simple as a new puppy or a new joint experience or it could mean big things like marriage, a house etc.

Be open to whatever may occur and let your love shine bright and positive things are sure to follow.

Health

The FOOL can often symbolize something fresh to those of you who have been struggling with something health wise. It can be prevalent in mental health and can come with a free feeling from struggle with difficult mental health issues such as depression, and anxiety. Of course every situation is different so the meaning of this card in conjunction with your health will depend heavily on what you have been going through personally.

When it comes to health the one recommendation I would be comfortable sharing in regards to this card would be to allow yourself some honest Self Care. Being focused on your needs will help to improve your life in every aspect.

Thanks for taking the journey into the wild world of Tarot with me on this Mystical Makeup Monday. See you next week.

Best Way to Care For Blonde Hair

Hello beautiful! Thanks for visiting the blog today. I’m Alexis, a hairstylist at Pomme Salon & Spa. I wanted to share some very important information you NEED to know about blonde hair care, and TWO of the most important tips & tricks to keep your hair lusciously beautiful. Ahem ( and healthy ). Let’s get started!

THE NUMBER ONE TIP for keeping your blonde bright and healthy is having the RIGHT Shampoo. Honestly this is important for any kind of hair. Many shampoos contain sulfates. They are damaging to your hair because it contains salt molecules that rough up the cuticle of your hair. This makes hair tangled, seem dry or crunchy, and it  allows all of your toner to slip out of your hair causing your blonde to yellow. Picture dry brittle looking hay like hair.  Using sulfates is like washing your hair with sandpaper. No Thanks!

NUMBER TWO the cold rinse is KING or queen as the case may be- Doing a cold rinse at the end of your shower sounds scary. Think of it like this… when you wash your face with cold water it closes your pores locking in natural oils and locking out dirt right? The same concept applies for your hair. It closes the cuticle locking in the conditioner, and your color. It also smooths each strand for a more shiny, frizz free finish.

SIDEBAR BABES… cause we need ta talk.

Are you thinking about going blonde?

There are some things to consider before you decide to go blonde. Salon Maintenance can be a big deal. To maintain a certain level of blonde you may have to visit the salon frequently not just for your retouch, but also for treatments to maintain the  integrity of your hair. Being super blonde is expensive to your hair health. Deep conditioning treatments or getting it cut more often will be vital.

You might need to say NO to heat styling. Avoiding heat as much as possible is important for many reasons. The main reason being when you  pre lighten hair it becomes more fragile. Heat is going to make it worse if not immediately than over time. I suggest you minimize your heat styling, get a really good heat protectant, and do more conditioning treatments both in the salon and at home.

Take texture into account.  When you pre-lighten your hair, the texture changes because you are altering the side bonds. This can be obvious in many different ways depending on your hair texture to begin with. For instance if you have super curly hair and you decide to lighten it, the curl pattern can be diffused or slightly loosened. If you have more flat, straight hair lightening the hair can give you more body and volume because it roughs the cuticle. Sometimes your new texture can seem like damage even if it is still relatively healthy.

Thanks for reading. You can always find me in person for a free consultation at Pomme Salon & Spa in Dripping Springs Texas. We also offer this service virtually. Here I can give you custom advice on the best way to go blonde and what would look good with your hair texture, skin tone, and face shape. Book me online at www.pommespa.com

5 Beauty Secrets that will save your life…

Hey Beauty Babes thanks for visiting me on my blog again. I wouldn’t know what to do with all the random information I gather if I didn’t have all of you to talk to! I have been spending some time gathering beauty facts. 10 plus years to be exact, and I thought I would share 5 beauty secrets that you need to know. When your done reading please share your favorite beauty secrets with me in the comments.

Beauty Secret 1: Prime your perfume with Vaseline. We prime our faces, and our eyes before we put makeup on them but has anybody EVER told you to dab a little layer of Vaseline in the areas you plan to apply your perfume? The Vaseline will trap some of the scent and keep it alive for much longer. Obviously be careful. Don’t apply your Vaseline to thick or you will be sticky and uncomfortable.

Beauty Seret 2: Argan and Jojoba oils are the BEST for your hair. These specific oils have the smallest molecular makeup and the right molecular weight to penetrate more deeply into the hair cuticle. There are tons of oils out there that people like to use for their skin, and hair but they are NOT all created equal. In fact some oils may be coating your hair or clogging your pores. Everybody jumped on the coconut oil bandwagon but it may not be your best bet depending on your hair type. It is not the worst oil for you but it also doesn’t have the most lucrative molecular makeup for optimal hair health. Keune So Pure Argan Oil, Kevin Murphy Young.Again oil, and Leonor Greyl Magnolia Oil are my personal favorites and have the best molecular makeup for your hair.

Speaking of oils… Beauty Secret 3: Solar Oil is BOMB for your nails. Don’t tell me why nail techs don’t always share this secret but its major! You know how you get your nails removed and the health of your real nail emerges absolute garbage? Well there are several reasons why, and your first step should be to find an amazing nail tech who truly cares for your nails health and wellbeing. They seem to be few and far between and I have ALWAYS wanted one at my spa ( holler if you know somebody ). One magical nail tech once told me that putting nail enhancements on your natural nail deprives them of moisture. The gel, acrylic or dip powder soaks up the hydration leaving none behind for you. If you rub some solar oil on your nails every other day then your nail enhancement will have all the oil it needs and it won’t steal it from your natural nails. Long story short you can have nail enhancements and healthy natural nails. It’s just not cheap, and you have to go out of your way to find a nail tech who will go out of their way to make sure of it.

Beauty Secret 4: Paraffin wax for your hands and feet. Since we just talked about your nails lets move along and address your hands. If you have never heard of paraffin wax it is an amazing way to soften your skin. You can get a paraffin Wax hand or foot dip at your local salon or spa or you can do it yourself at home. I will say it can seem a little daunting on your own but it’s really pretty basic. The wax will harden around your hands and when you pull them out of the bag your skin will feel like silk.

Beauty Secret 5: Aloe Vera juice is like a multi vitamin for your hair and it promotes a healthy scalp. You can grow your own aloe. It is one of the easier plants to keep alive and every so often break off a stalk and juice it. It makes your hair feel great but mostly it’s a miracle for your scalp. It helps with dry scalp, dandruff. Side note it helps prevent hair loss by breaking down the build up that clogs hair follicles and stimulates fresh hair growth. So slather your scalp with aloe once a week and watch your hair bounce back baby.

There are probably another hundred or more tidbits I could share but I had just enough time to get these 5 down on paper. I took my time choosing the best few for this particular article but you should book an appointment with your stylist because they can share so much more. Think of your stylists recommendations as a prescription for healthy hair and skin. If you do not already have a stylist you love you can always book one of mine online at www.pommespa.com. Start with a free consultation or a basic haircut and they will come up with a complete beauty plan customized just for you. Thanks for being with me, and happy skin and hair all year long!

Haute Holiday Gift Guide

Give the gift this holiday season of giving back to the environment by shopping at your local high end consignment or resale boutique! We are not talking about the nearest Goodwill. Smaller locally owned consignment shops can be found in many cities and towns. They are often hidden gems full of beautiful items and discounted prices. The best part about these places is that they are usually owned by actual members of the community, and your money is going to a real family who needs your support. The problem is most people can’t imagine what they could buy at a resale shop that they could gift. Problem solved here is a Haute Holiday Gift Guide of 3 types of items you could find currently at my consignment boutique Haute Exchange in Dripping Springs Texas, and most resale shops across the United States.

Holiday Presence

There is no present in the world like the gift of presence. This idea  is inspired by the collection of gemstones and crystals found throughout our boutique. Everything from raw crystal jewelry to actual stones made to bless the receiver with something extraordinary. For example Amethyst is a stone of spiritual protection and purification. You can find it in our precious gems and crystal collections. There are several jewelry items made with Rose Quartz that opens the heart and restores trust and harmony in relationships. It can be even more effective when worn close to the skin. Crystals make beautiful, and special gifts that can bring so much more to those who receive them.

Coming In Clutch

This year mini bags and purses have been IN STYLE. That includes the classic clutch. High end resale is the perfect place to find usually expensive and very beautiful purses. We have a collection of amazing clutches in the shop ready for their forever home under your tree. Every  young woman needs the perfect clutch for a special occasion. I know you have found yourself dressed to impress suddenly realizing you were about to carry your large everyday bag into a formal event, and completely clash your outfit.

The Millennial Crop

The youngsters these days seem to have skipped their awkward phase. For the first time we are seeing a younger generation make the crop top look effortlessly cool, and not completely hoochie. These ladies have been pairing their crops with boyfriend jeans, and high waisted bottoms, and they are looking very high fashion. Most high end resale boutiques are rich with vintage wear and really cute crop tops. Pick up a few for the millennial in your life, and maybe a little something for you too.

These are just 3 simple examples of fun gifts you can find for loved ones in a consignment shop near you. There are so many more treasures to be found hiding between the racks at your local resale boutique. Think winter boots, fashion accessories, amazing scarves, vintage, and silk! As a perk my shop offers free personal shopping experiences, and a glass of wine or Topo Chico while you browse. Take advantage of sweet little towns all over offering unique and fun finds this holiday season, and support a local business.

5 Beauty Myths Debunked

5 Beauty Myths Debunked

by Aimee Fisher

Time to debunk a few beauty beliefs. I know with all the information online sometimes the line between myth and truth is blurred. I’ve chosen 5 myths I want to address.

Lip Plumping

You can plump your lips at home

Please do not do your own lip plumping! Not only is it dangerous it can cause broken capillaries, and even BRUISING! As far as “plumping lip gel” your lips are irritated with ingredients that cause swelling. Stick with the Licensed professionals when it comes to your lips. Your lips will thank you.

Lash Extensions

You can get a full set of lashes for $40

Lash tabs are NOT the same as individual lash extensions. Lash tabs or flares are chunks of lashes that lay across several of your natural eyelashes with a glue that is meant to last 24 hours. Individual lash extensions are semi permanent, and applied to ONE lash at a time. They cost more because theyare high qualityand healthy. You may find a sweet deal on lashes…..just be sure you understand what you’re getting.

Microdermabrasion

Causes microscopic cuts on the skin

This advanced exfoliation technique CAN cause microscopic cuts in the skin. If the service is not performed by a licensed professional using the appropriate amount of pressure, the correct “gritted” tip for different areas, and proper suction. If you do the research to find a good Esthetician it is very safe. It is possible to have negative effects from Microdermabrasion if not done properly. I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again…Stick with a licensed professional!

Chemical Peel

Leaves you peeling in sheets and stuck indoors for a full week

Not every chemical peel will leave skin peeling off in sheets! Chemical peels are an excellent way to improve the skin’s appearance but you don’t have to be shunned from the world for 5 days. There are a variety of chemical peels that are less invasive and some actual result in minimal peeling. It is also perfect paired with Microdermabrasion for similar results to a heavy peel without the down time.

Cleansing your skin

It is ok to skip days when it comes to washing your face

There is a rumor going around that you do not have to wash your face every day. Consider the rumor debunked. You absolutely must clean your face everyday. Even when you don’t wear makeup you must clean off the excess oil, dirt, and debris…. the environmental pollution. A clean face is helpful in preventing breakouts as well as helping cellular turnover for healthy skin. Wash your face even when you’re sleepy.

3 Reasons Why EVERYONE Needs A “ Serum ”

Guest Article by Aimee Fisher

Most of us need to know what a serum is to know why you need one. A serum is a concentrated version of other products excluding the fluff, the junk, the extra. With more stuff can come less absorption making the product less effective. The molecular makeup of a serum is also very different from a cream moisturizer for example. Serum’s tend to have smaller molecules allowing for a deeper level of absorption. Don’t throw out all your creams, lotions, and moisturizer just yet! Sometimes your skin needs multi levels of care, but that’s for another article. Today I am here to discuss the 3 reasons why everyone needs a serum.

Reason 1. You need a serum because of what is NOT going to be found in them. Serums do not have oils that keep water from evaporating. Most serums are water based which allows the product to soak into your skin as opposed to sitting on TOP of your skin. Most people are in desperate need of internal hydration.

Reason 2 is how much active ingredient you will be exposing your skin to. The active ingredients are what is in your skincare that is producing actual results. If you’re trying to soften fine lines, and wrinkles the active ingredients you might find could include retinoids, vitamin c, hydroxy acids, and peptides. These are the real heroes out there doing the dirty work for aging skin. Long story short active ingredients get results.

Reason 3 is everybody has an issue with their skin. Yes, even those of you who have glowing perfect skin. You need to be worried about prevention if you plan on keeping it that way. Nobody is immune to aging skin. Serums can minimize hyperpigmentation, prevent clogged pores, and soften fine lines and wrinkles. Whatever your goal is there is a serum out there just for you.

Now that you know just 3 of the reasons why you should be using serums in addition to other at home skin care you need to know which one is best for you. The only way to get complete custom skin care is to consult a professional. Find a local Esthetician that can give you a skin analysis and recommend the best serum for the result you desire. The Worlds Most Meaningful Maintenance…

I want to discuss with you something that’s weighed heavy on my heart for some time. We have entered the era of self care. People all over the world are prioritizing things that matter to them. For many especially women, and mothers we may be prioritizing our self care for the first time in our entire lives. This is HUGE. As we enter the wide world of self care we might find ourselves in a sea of ways to achieve a heightened sense of well being. It can get overwhelming.

First, let me say you absolutely deserve to be doing this. We provide maintenance for our houses, businesses, belongings. Hell even our cities are providing maintenance for our streets, and public places. Self care can be absolutely anything that you value. Of course anybody should encourage you to practice hobbies, and anything else that brings you joy as a form of self care. With that being said I recently saw a meme going around that said something along the lines of Self Care doesn’t just mean getting your nails done and shopping. It was designed to remind the every day consumer that their health is important to. It encouraged people to do things like exercise as a form of self care. Don’t mis read me here… I am 100% behind healthy habits and how they promote self care in all kinds of glorious ways. But I came here to make outwardly taking care our our bodies okay too. It is so easy to consider beauty routines a sort of lavish extra. It really IS NOT. ” Beauty ” routines are BOMB for an assortment of reasons, but really because it is a way of taking care of your body, and your doing it just for you.

Let me just enlighten you on how many body maintenance services the beauty world offers. The list is endless but the main ones include hair care and all that goes with it, waxing, lash extensions, nails, pedicures, massage, and so much more. That is just the tip of the iceberg. Also within those categories come variations of services. On average people find 2 or 3 types of beauty maintenance manageable at most. Some people get their hair and nails done. Some people prefer to spend all their time and money on hair extensions. Some ladies LOVE their faux lashes and make it a priority to get extensions on them every 2 weeks. I have had them and trust… Lash Extensions are game changers. BUT (and thats a big but) as much as I love getting my hair done and live for a perfect set of lashes. I want to talk to you about the most under rated self care service of all time.

FACIALS. Let me tell you why. Your skin is worn front and center right up on your face from the day you are born until the day you die. Your nails grow out, and your hair will eventually all be cut off and replaced by new, but your skin. That stays with you forever. There are things taking place behind the scenes like cellular turnover to keep your skin fresh, but it’s just not the same. The best advice I ever give my clients as a beauty professional is to incorporate regular facials into their outward body maintenance, and self care routines. Skincare seems like even more of a luxury than getting our roots colored or our nails done because it does not grow out with an obvious line of demarcation reminding us to care for it again. That does not make it any less important. It is actually the most important thing you can ever do for yourself. Those monthly facials may not seem like they are making all that much of a difference until suddenly your 70 years old, and you have half as many fine lines and dark spots, and wrinkles as your peers.

It is also just as much about health as it is about beauty. Your skin being the largest organ of your entire body is the most prone to attack from environmental stress. Those pores are soaking up everything you come in contact with. That makes choices about what we put on our skin SO much more important than we make them. Every body wash, glitter, makeup product, lotion, even shampoo we decide to use enters our body, and our blood stream directly through our skin.

Your Esthetician really is your best friend. Please go in and make a relationship with a Skincare Professional who can guide you on…

1. How often and what types of skincare services you need.

2. What you should be using at home.

3. What products to stay away from for long term health, and wellness.

4. Information on when you might need to get further help from a dermatologist or a doctor.

Your Esthi is on the front lines with you doing battle. Be the best you can be to your own body by making skincare a priority. I encourage you to consider if you must which beauty routine or service you might be willing to trade in for regular facials, and skincare.
